Note

As a high school student, Carol was named "Typical Girl Reserve, YWCA" of the
Western States and Hawaii.

She served on the Board of Directors, San Diego Young Women's Christian
Association. She sponsored youth groups, and with her husband was active in
church work, where she taught college groups and young married couples groups.
She played cello in several orchestras. While living there, she was active in
the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington D.C.
